Reader's Guide
The Demon King is the overarching source of the curses that drive the plot: Meliodas' immortality and Elizabeth's perpetual death and reincarnation. He is the father of Meliodas and Zeldris, and the original leader of the Ten Commandments. His soul fragments (Love for Meliodas, Piety for Zeldris) are key to his power. Meliodas' plan to become the new demon king involves absorbing the Ten Commandments, starting with the Commandment of Pacifism, in order to break the curses. The Demon King's influence is felt through Meliodas' gradual reversion to his former self as his emotions are consumed in Purgatory.
