History
In 2010, Pete Carroll shifted his 4-3 under defense to two-gap techniques, creating a stouter run-stopping front. Dan Quinn then persuaded Red Bryant to play the big end role, leveraging his two-gap skills. This hybrid scheme found a home for players like Kam Chancellor, whom older systems might have dismissed as a positionless tweener. By 2013, the defense had propelled the Seattle Seahawks to two Super Bowls, and its secondary earned the nickname Legion of Boom. Gus Bradley and Robert Saleh later adopted this defensive approach.
