Nancy Loomis, using the alias Debbie Salt, infiltrates Windsor College as a journalist to get close to Sidney Prescott and the other survivors of the Woodsboro massacre. She reveals herself to Sidney and Gale Weathers in the campus theater, holding Gale at gunpoint. Nancy explains that she used Mickey Altieri to carry out the murders, intending to frame him and blame movie violence for the killings. She admits to murdering Randy Meeks in Joel's news van for slandering her son's name during a phone call. When Sidney points out the hypocrisy of Nancy's motives—that her abandonment fueled Billy's psychotic tendencies—Nancy attacks. Cotton Weary appears and, after Nancy tries to manipulate him into killing Sidney, he instead shoots Nancy.
