Dennis E. Taylor grew up in the Greater Vancouver area and attended the British Columbia Institute of Technology, though he never finished his degree. For most of his professional life he worked as a computer programmer inside corporate IT departments, including a stint at the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia. He taught himself to code in his early twenties on a Tandy TRS-80, a machine that likely planted the seed for his later fascination with machines and minds.
