Simon Moser

Playing career

Simon Moser played for Switzerland at the 2011, 2012, and 2013 IIHF World Championships. At the 2012 tournament, a bad fall on the ice tore his ACL, requiring season-ending surgery and causing him to turn down a training camp invite from the Chicago Blackhawks. He recovered to play the final 35 games of the 2012–13 NLA season, notching 21 points (10 goals, 11 assists). That season ended with his team, the SCL Tigers, being relegated to the National League B. Moser became a free agent and, after a try-out with the Nashville Predators' 2013 camp, signed a two-year deal with SC Bern on June 7, 2013. But he impressed Nashville enough before the 2013–14 season opener to trigger his NHL out-clause, signing a one-year entry-level contract with the Predators on September 30, 2013. He started the season with their AHL affiliate, the Milwaukee Admirals, before being recalled on February 1, 2014, and making his NHL debut against the St. Louis Blues. Moser played six NHL games that year, scoring his first goal on March 1, 2014, in a 3–1 loss to the Winnipeg Jets. After that one-year deal, he turned down a contract extension from Nashville and returned to Switzerland, signing a one-year contract with SC Bern on July 31, 2014. During the 2014–15 season, he re-upped with Bern on an improved three-year contract that included an NHL out-clause, signed on January 13, 2015. Before the 2017–18 campaign, Moser was named captain of SC Bern, taking over from Martin Plüss.
