The New Year's Rate Plan

Plot

A peculiar phone service plan called the New Year's Tariff is given to a young man named Andrey by an unusual woman when he buys a replacement phone. On New Year's Eve in 2009, Andrey and his friends gather in Red Square, and he dials a random number to wish a stranger a happy new year. The call connects him to Alyona, a woman heartbroken after a recent breakup. When they try to meet, they discover they are living one year apart: Andrey in 2009, Alyona in 2008. Andrey visits Alyona's address but learns she died in a car accident 15 minutes before New Year's 2009. He investigates the accident and sends her a video message with the details. Alyona assembles a team to prevent the crash on New Year's Eve 2009, but their efforts fail. Andrey, returning from a work trip, ends up on the bus Alyona was meant to avoid. The collision occurs, but the bus avoids an explosion. Andrey is nearly hit by a tanker truck but is saved when Alena calls his name, reuniting them at the end of 2008. The film ends with a café waitress visiting the same phone store, where the mysterious salesperson offers her the New Year's Tariff.
