Plot
In 1780, Count Cagliostro hides from Prince Potemkin's pursuit after a fraudulent tour in St. Petersburg. He seeks the formula for love, a feeling he cannot evoke. The count's visit stirs the quiet estate.
Filming
Grigory Gorin envisioned Oleg Yankovsky as Cagliostro, but the actor declined due to reluctance to engage with mysticism. The statue "Praskovya Tulupova" is a marble copy of "Odalisque (Sulamitide)" by Pasquale Romanelli. Filming took place in the Moscow region, Stupinsky District and Domodedovsky District. The film's announcement appeared in the New Year's edition of Kinopanorama in 1984.
