What We Lose to Love (original Indonesian title: Yang Hilang dalam Cinta) is an Indonesian romantic fantasy miniseries made for Disney+ Hotstar. Yandy Laurens handled creation, direction, and writing duties. The show ran from 30 July 2022 to 3 September 2022, with a total of twelve episodes. Its main cast includes Dion Wiyoko, Sheila Dara Aisha, and Reza Rahadian.
The story follows Satria, who meets his first love Dara again as she gets ready to wed her current partner, Rendra. Then Dara suddenly vanishes—she cannot touch anything, and no one except Satria can see her.
Among the supporting cast are Dwi Sasono, Asri Welas, Maya Hasan, Daniel Mananta, Kiki Narendra, Donne Maulana, Gregory Prabowo, Almanzo Konoralma, Arawinda Kirana, Ringgo Agus Rahman, Fazrie Permana, and Alfath Kiting.
Laurens came up with the idea after hearing about a friend’s toxic relationship. Principal photography lasted 53 days, starting in September 2021 in Jakarta—making it the longest production Laurens had undertaken. On 8 July 2022, Starvision and Cerita Films announced the miniseries would debut on Disney+ Hotstar, which it did on 30 July 2022, releasing two episodes per week.
