Muzzle (film)
A K-9 handler seeks justice for his murdered partner.
Last updated
Muzzle is a 2023 American action-thriller film produced and directed by John Stalberg Jr. and written by Carlyle Eubank. It stars Aaron Eckhart, Penelope Mitchell, Diego Tinoco, Paul Johansson, Kyle Smithson, Delissa Reynolds, and Stephen Lang.
Plot
After his K-9 partner Ace is killed in LA's Skid Row, Officer Jake Rosser assaults a paramedic for not treating the dog and is forced into mandatory therapy to retain his K-9 handler status. He begins his own investigation into the death and picks a second dog named Socks. His probe leads to a cartel that uses K-9s for nefarious purposes and dupes Socks away from him. In the final confrontation, Rosser tricks the female cartel leader into saying the German word selbstmord for suicide, then snaps his finger, causing Socks and its counterpart to attack her.
She is injured but shoots Socks. Five victims' human remains are later discovered among 100 million tons of garbage in a landfill, though decomposition may prevent identification for months. Rosser is seen driving with his son, while Mia walks Socks, whose right forelimb has been amputated.
Sequel
In May 2024, a sequel called Muzzle: City of Wolves was revealed. Aaron Eckhart will return as Jake Rosser, and John Stalberg Jr. is back to direct. Jacob Michael King wrote the script based on a story by Carlyle Eubank and Stalberg Jr. The plot has Rosser trying to live quietly with his family and his retired K-9 partner, Socks. But a violent gang attacks them, forcing him into the criminal underworld to get revenge and keep his family safe.
