Lore & Background
The story follows Jade, an investigative reporter, martial artist, and spy working with a resistance movement to reveal a sinister alien conspiracy. The game takes place in the year 2435 on the mining planet of Hillys, under siege by aliens called the DomZ. A military dictatorship called the Alpha Sections has come to power, and an underground resistance, the IRIS Network, fights them. Jade is a young photojournalist; her allies include Uncle Pey'j, a boar-like creature, and Double H, a human IRIS operative. The main antagonists are the DomZ High Priest and Alpha Sections leader General Kehck.
Reader's Guide
Players control Jade from a third-person perspective. She can run, move stealthily, jump, climb, push or bash objects, and flatten against walls. Her main tools are a Daï-jo combat staff, discs for ranged attack, and a camera. Health is represented by hearts and can be restored with food items or increased with PA-1s. Allies can be directed via contextual commands. A hovercraft is used for travel and minigames; later the spaceship Beluga is acquired. Upgrades are purchased with pearls collected throughout the game.
