The Haste power-up rune is a feature of the Loki's Minions Capture the Flag (LMCTF) mod for Quake II. It is one of four power-up runes in the mod, alongside Strength, Resist, and Regeneration.
Lore & Background
LMCTF was created by Mike "Jormungard" Scandizzo of Clan Loki's Minions. The mod was released the day after the Quake II source code was released and soon became very popular. Its defining feature was the use of an off-hand grappling hook, which allowed the player to fly through the air while still being able to fire their weapon.
Reader's Guide
In LMCTF, players can collect the Haste rune as a power-up. The mod is a Capture the Flag game with two teams, Red and Blue. The goal is to enter the other team's base, steal their flag, and return it safely to your team's flag inside your base. The team with the most flag captures at the end of the match wins.
Did You Know?
- The mod featured 30 original maps in its final iteration, plus additional community map packs adding 50 more maps.
- The biggest tournaments for LMCTF were the Ragnarok and Ragnarok 2 tournaments, starting in 1998.
