The Artist Formerly Known as Prince
Prince Rogers Nelson (June 7, 1958 – April 21, 2016) was an American singer, songwriter, musician, dancer, actor, and filmmaker. He pioneered the Minneapolis sound and is one of the best-selling music artists of all time.

Prince changed his stage name to an unpronounceable symbol in 1993 during a contractual dispute with Warner Bros. Records. He was often referred to as the Artist Formerly Known as Prince (TAFKAP). He reverted to his original name in 2000 after signing with Arista Records.
