The oldest known ceratopsian, *Yinlong downsi*, lived between 161.2 and 155.7 million years ago. The group’s last species, *Triceratops prorsus*, died out during the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event. *Triceratops* is the most famous ceratopsian to the public, and it is traditional for genus names to end in "-ceratops," though not always.
