Background
She appeared in 80 episodes from 1993 to 1994, the whole first season and the first twenty episodes of the second. She won the part, her first major role, in an audition of about 500 actresses, performed many of her own stunts and was hurt on set several times.
Born in Saigon, she was six when she left Vietnam with her mother and brothers on a cargo ship bound for Hong Kong; her father, a South Vietnamese army officer, had fled in 1975. The family reunited in the United States in 1980 and settled in California, where she studied civil engineering at the University of California, Irvine until a talent scout spotted her.
Trang left the show with Austin St. John and Walter Emanuel Jones over contract and pay disputes, and Karan Ashley became the new Yellow Ranger. She later played a villain in The Crow: City of Angels, and died in a car crash at the age of 27.
