Reader's Guide
Levitate is a passive Ability that grants the user complete immunity to all Ground-type moves. This includes direct attacks like Earthquake and Dig, as well as indirect effects such as the recoil from Spikes or Toxic Spikes on the field. Strategically, this ability allows Pokémon with weak defensive stats against Ground types to survive otherwise fatal hits. It is particularly valuable for Electric-types that lack resistance to Ground moves, turning a major weakness into a non-issue. However, Levitate has specific counters. The move Gravity or the Ability Mold Breaker will suppress the floating effect, making the user vulnerable again. Additionally, the move Smack Down forces the Pokémon back to the ground, negating the immunity until the end of the battle.
