Gameplay
Moero Crystal is a direct sequel to 2014's Moe Chronicle and retains its ecchi-focused gameplay, but shifts the search from panties to bras. The battle system, described as "build up, release, and insert," introduces a new "Insert" command that lets players alter the attacking order of characters. The protagonist Zenox cannot attack and instead provides support buffs to a required team of five monster girls. Costumes degrade over time, and defeated monster girls can be recruited via a touchscreen "scratching" feature; a new "Double Scratch" mode allows interaction with two monster girls simultaneously. The game includes 50 returning monster girls from the previous title and 30 new ones, each of the 80 girls having a separate ending. Players can enter a dungeon called the "Depths Domain" inside a specific monster girl's heart after meeting prerequisites, unlocking various content for that character. Unlike Moero Chronicle, where costumes came in sets, Crystal allows mixing and matching of bras and panties. Players can also give presents to monster girls and visit an in-game inn. The story begins when the "Bra of Everlasting Darkness" and "Panties of Hope" are stolen, causing a "Dimensional Chasm" to appear in the skies. Zenox, a "lucky lecher," teams up with returning mascot Otton, a panty hunter, to gather monster girl bras and save the world. Siliconera compared Zenox to To Love Ru's Rito, but noted he is actually capable of fighting.
Development and promotion
Moero Crystal was announced in May 2015 in an issue of Dengeki PlayStation. The game was produced by Norihisa Kochiwa, directed by Makoto Kitano, and features character design by Katsuyuki Hirano. A website with character artwork and a teaser trailer launched that month, and the release date of September 25 was announced in June. A debut full-length trailer highlighting new features appeared in July. Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Asia announced in September that the game would release in Asia with an English translation in 2016. Pre-orders included a code to download "Nude Flash" underwear for eight characters, and a limited edition featured a special box, art book, and a CD with voices of all 80 monster girls.
