Characters
The game features a cast of characters including Seed, a young keytone specialist from the floating city Floatie. Aqua, Seed's foster little sister and a keytone specialist assistant, shares his sentiments but has a childish side; she can cure Seed by moving the fountain's Lapis found in Floatier. Palsh, also called Pulse, is a genius inventor and idol from Barrierbar Kingdom who becomes absorbed in her interests. Violet is a long-lived witch with high magic power, intellect, and beauty, residing in Radia Ruin. Brigitta Earl Age is the High Empress of the Earl Age Empire, educated in grace and dignity. Feilang, a girl from the Oni clan in Tao, has a strong sense of justice and is one of the few clan members who keeps her human form. Rana lives in the Morocca Republic and is shy and poor at expressing emotions. Hisoka, from Shelvania, is cheerful and energetic but has a dark past. Kasumi studied all kinds of curses and previously taught Seed and others. Ziorker, also called Jioka, is a quiet knight possessed by a demon, which prevents her from appearing old and causes a personality change when the demon emerges. C-9, full name Android SX-C9, is an android built by Pulse as a replacement for her mother; she is affectionate toward Pulse but cold to others. Alto, from Brie Soleil, is a cautious hardworker with a boyish look and poor movement, who often creates distance from others and can accurately comprehend the song of the Lapis. Sopra is also listed among the characters.
Development
The Luminous Arc series began as a trilogy of tactical role-playing games on the Nintendo DS, developed by Imageepoch and published by Marvelous Entertainment between 2007 and 2009. After rumors of a move to the PlayStation Portable did not materialize, the series remained dormant until 2014. The game was first announced in August 2014 at the Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Asia Press Conference 2014, Sony's pre-Tokyo Game Show conference. Felistella developed the game instead of Imageepoch, which was experiencing financial troubles that led to its closure in 2015. Felistella had previously taken over the Summon Night series from Flight-Plan after that studio closed in 2012. The producer was Yoshifumi Hashimoto, producer of the Rune Factory series. The game was released in Japan on August 6, 2015, and has not been announced for release in English or other regions.
