Concept and creation

Nintendo enlisted Gan Matsumoto, credited as Takeshi Tomozuma, to create music for the upcoming Pikmin. Tomozuma composed "Ai no Uta" and formed Strawberry Flower with singer Tomoe Watanabe, who provided vocals. The song was not included in the game itself but was used in its marketing campaign. It is a pop ballad driven by guitar and accordion, with lyrics from the Pikmin's perspective describing their actions and devotion to Captain Olimar, though neither is named in the main version. The music video was filmed on September 26, 2001.
