Plot
NBI special crimes division agent Tony encounters an evil entity that kills and tortures beautiful women, including his girlfriend, years after he thought he had killed the spirit. People close to Tony, such as his partner Jane—who has a romantic interest in him that everyone in the agency knows except Tony—are placed in danger. The spirit, which has killed many in Japan, targets women from a samurai clan. In Manila, Miyuki manages the family business while her sister Akane cares for their aging father. After Akane vanishes and their father is found dead, Miyuki is forced to assist the investigation to stop the entity's killing spree.
Controversy
After a day of screening, some cinemas began pulling the film in favor of two other blockbuster entries, My Bebe Love and Beauty and the Bestie. From 40 theatres, the number showing Nilalang dropped to five. The producers appealed to moviegoers and theatre owners to support the independent film as they support mainstream festival entries. The hashtag #DemandForNilalang trended on Twitter and Facebook as interested viewers urged cinema owners to screen the film. After a few days, many theatre owners added the film to their line-up in response to public demand.
