Plot

A violent argument erupts between Owen and Mariella inside a car parked by a lake. Owen, who left his wife for Mariella, is furious that she refuses to do the same. The confrontation escalates, and Mariella attempts to flee the vehicle. The story then shifts to an earlier time. Mariella tells her husband, Ivan, that she is going to keep her friend Samantha company, and drives away. It later becomes clear that Mariella is dead. Mabel runs an antique shop. She is the only child of her mother, Adela. As children, Mabel’s sister, Marie, disappeared in an accident. On the anniversary of that loss, Marie’s spirit haunts their home. During a rainy day, Ivan meets Mabel, and they start a romance. A year later, he proposes. Ivan’s daughter with Mariella, Angel, treats Mabel coldly. Meanwhile, Samantha shows romantic interest in Ivan, but he does not feel the same. Mariella’s ghost begins to haunt Mabel. Following advice from her best friend Anna, Mabel unknowingly purchases Mariella’s red bag, but discards it after learning its provenance. Anna’s boyfriend, Dindo, spots Mariella’s ghost. Samantha apparently leaps from her window after seeing the same apparition. Ivan and Mabel argue when she tells him about the haunting. Angel and Mabel eventually reconcile. Mabel and Anna consult a medium named Manang Letty. During a séance, Mabel is told that Mariella’s soul has been released, and the only way to set her free is to leave the red bag in a church. An elderly woman sleeping inside the church takes the bag and walks away; the bag begins to bleed. Dindo sees Mariella’s ghost again and is killed. Mabel confronts Ivan, who wrongly believes she is leaving him for Dindo. Ivan becomes violent, and Mabel ends the relationship. To prove the haunting, Mabel takes Mariella’s car to show Ivan. Mariella’s spirit takes control of the vehicle and drives Mabel to the lake, revealing that Ivan, not Owen, was the one who assaulted Mariella at the film’s start. Ivan then murdered Mariella and drove the car, with her inside, into the lake’s depths. Ivan calls Mabel to say that Adela is with him. Mabel rushes to rescue her mother. It comes to light that Ivan killed Owen, Mariella, Dindo, and Samantha. Mariella’s ghost appeared to Dindo and Samantha just before Ivan was about to kill them. Mabel and Ivan fight; he overpowers her and throws her limp body into the pool. As Adela lies injured, Marie appears to Adela and morphs into Mariella. On the home CCTV, Ivan notices Mariella bringing Mabel to safety, and Mabel knocks Ivan into the pool. Mariella grabs Ivan to drown him. Mariella’s car is retrieved from the river, and Adela expresses relief at learning that Marie had led a good life and that her soul is at peace. Later, Ivan’s ghost begins to haunt Mabel.
