Mag-ingat Ka sa... Kulam (shortened to *Kulam*) is a Filipino fantasy-horror film that Jun Lana co-wrote and directed. The lead roles were played by Judy Ann Santos and Dennis Trillo. Regal Films produced and released it as part of the company’s year-long 48th anniversary. The story follows a married woman who begins acting strangely after surviving a serious car crash. As she recovers, she experiences unexplained sights and feels like something supernatural is happening in her home. She has no memory of her life before the accident. A man named Dave visits and tells her she had planned to leave her husband, Paul, and run away with him. He claims she loved him and once shared a secret with him. Mira learns that Paul had a previous lover, which had damaged their marriage. Even her blind daughter, Sophie, seems distant and afraid of her. Mira tries to mend her family relationships but cannot stop thinking about the secret Dave mentioned. Mira meets Dave again, and he reveals that she had a twin sister named Maria. After their mother died, Maria went insane, and Mira placed her in an asylum. When they go to visit Maria, they are told she committed suicide a month earlier and that her unclaimed body was sent to a university for study. Mira tells Paul, who contacts the university to claim the corpse and have it cremated. Sophie’s eyesight is restored through a transplant, but when she opens her eyes, she sees a woman standing behind her mother—a woman only Sophie can see. The paranormal activity escalates, so Paul and Mira consult a medium. He explains that a powerful spell aims to take over a physical body during an eclipse, when spirits are strongest. He finds a doll called an “antiguar,” a device a malevolent spirit can use to stay in the world. On the night of the eclipse, Paul and Sophie watch the sky. Paul spots something white approaching—Maria’s body. He rushes Sophie inside, where he finds a videotape Mira recorded before her accident. In the video, Mira explains how Paul can fight Maria.
