Hide and Seek (2007 film)

The story centers on a family that relocates to a deserted house and begins experiencing ghostly activity, triggered by the young boy’s game of hide and seek. College professor Oliver Aliciano moves from Manila with his wife Leah, rebellious stepdaughter Nica, and young son Uno after being blamed for the death of Nica’s best friend, Ella Cabuena. Once they settle into the abandoned home, they are plagued by unsettling visions and hauntings. Initially dismissing the apparitions, they eventually learn the house’s tragic history: a wealthy family once lived there, and the husband had an affair with the maid, Dolor. Dolor’s jealous husband, Gener, suspected their daughter was not his. When Dolor insisted the child was his, Gener ignored her and accidentally killed both Dolor and their daughter, along with Dolor’s unborn baby. Gener was later shot dead by police during his arrest. After hearing this, Oliver and Leah try to stop the haunting, but realize Dolor and her daughter’s ghosts only want to help, while Gener’s ghost seeks to kill them as he did his own family. Gener possesses Oliver, forcing him to attack his family. With aid from Dolor and her daughter, they subdue Gener’s spirit and free Oliver. The family leaves the house to start anew in the city, where Oliver is cleared of the murder charge and reconciles with his stepdaughter.
