LG Electronics Inc. is a South Korean multinational consumer electronics corporation headquartered in Yeouido-dong, Seoul, South Korea. It is part of LG Corporation, the fourth largest chaebol in South Korea, and is often considered the pinnacle of LG Corp. The company is a major manufacturer of televisions, home appliances, and commercial products, and is associated with technologies such as OLED television displays, the webOS smart TV platform, and the LG ThinQ smart home ecosystem.

LG Electronics was founded in 1958 as GoldStar in the aftermath of the Korean War, initially producing radios, televisions, refrigerators, washing machines, and air conditioners for the domestic market. The company merged with Lucky Chemical and GoldStar Cable in 1995, changing its name to Lucky-Goldstar and then to LG Electronics. It acquired US-based TV manufacturer Zenith in 1995 and later absorbed it. In 1998, LG developed the world's first 60-inch plasma TV, and in 1999 it established a joint venture with Philips that became LG Display. The company split in 2002 to create a holding company, with the new LG Electronics being spun off. LG Electronics has been involved in various product innovations, including the world's first 84-inch ultra-HD TV for retail sale and the first mobile phone with a dual-core processor. In 2013, it formally expanded into automotive electronics. In 2021, LG announced its withdrawal from the phone manufacturing industry after continuous losses. The company has also faced controversies, including a 2012 EU fine for price-fixing of TV cathode-ray tubes and a 2015 human rights controversy involving a former employee of an LG television assembly factory who lost both hands in an industrial accident.
