Career

Laing rose to fame in 2011 through the E4 reality show Made in Chelsea, joining in the second series. The following year, he and friend Ed Williams launched Candy Kittens, a confectionery company producing vegan and vegetarian sweets. His acting credits include a fashion show attendee in the 2016 film Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie and a doctor in a 2017 episode of the Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks. On Series 12 Episode 3 of 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, he set a world record by throwing 18 jelly beans into his mouth in 30 seconds, beating the previous record by three.

In 2017, he appeared on the first series of Celebrity Hunted alongside Made in Chelsea co-star Spencer Matthews, and in 2018 he took part in the third episode of the first season of The Great Stand Up to Cancer Bake Off. Laing was named as a celebrity for the seventeenth series of Strictly Come Dancing in August 2019, but withdrew on 5 September due to a foot injury, two days before the launch show; he had been paired with professional dancer Oti Mabuse.

He was replaced by Kelvin Fletcher, who won the series. The following year, Laing competed on the eighteenth series, re-partnered with Karen Hauer, and finished as a runner-up, making him the first person to appear on two different series of Strictly. In 2018, he filmed the Channel 4 documentary Famous and Fighting Crime, in which he became a volunteer police officer in Peterborough. Since early 2017, he has hosted the podcast Private Parts with Francis Boulle, and in May 2020 he started the BBC Sounds podcast 6 Degrees from Jamie and Spencer with Spencer Matthews.

In 2021, he appeared on Richard Osman's House of Games. From 28 October 2022, he replaced Mollie King on BBC Radio 1 while she was on maternity leave, and in March 2024 he replaced Jordan North on Radio 1's Going Home show.

Personal life

Jamie Laing and his wife Sophie Habboo split their time between homes in London and Gloucestershire. The couple got together in April 2019, went public with their engagement on Instagram in December 2021, and tied the knot in London in April 2023. A second celebration followed a month later in Marbella. In June 2025, they shared that they were expecting, and their son Ziggy was born on 4 December that year. Also in 2025, Laing completed five ultramarathons—covering over 150 miles—in five days to raise money for charity.
