Ravex in Tezuka World

A 2009 anime short by Ravex celebrating Tezuka and Avex.

Ravex in Tezuka World

Ravex in Tezuka World is an 18-minute anime short from 2009, produced by the Japanese band Ravex. It appeared on the album *Trax*, a release marking both Avex’s 20th anniversary and Osamu Tezuka’s 80th birthday.

The story is framed as “another story” taking place after the original manga ends. It begins with Astro Boy discovered on an asteroid following his final sacrifice to save Earth, as depicted in the 1960s anime. The three members of Ravex rescue him, and he is revived by a character called Space Jack. The revived robot, now named Ratom, is a fusion of Rock and Astro, given the ability to harness music. Professor Ochanomizu collaborates with Space Jack to build this evolved form.

The short features several Tezuka characters. The main cast includes Astro Boy, Rock Holmes, Princess Sapphire, and the Ravex members (Shinichi Osawa, Taku Takahashi, and Tanaka Tomoyuki). Supporting characters are Pinoko, Tink, Hyakkimaru, Unico, Melmo, and Black Jack (appearing as Space Jack).

The music tracklist consists of: “Dark Silence,” “House Nation feat. Lisa,” “Believe in Love feat. BoA,” “Just the Two of Us feat. Tohoshinki,” “Golden Luv feat. Maki Goto,” “1 More Night feat. Monkey Majik,” “Bangalicious feat. Anna Tsuchiya,” “V.I.P.P. (Very Important Party People) feat. TRF & Verbal (M-Flo),” “I Rave U feat. DJ Ozma,” and “Waruiko Mitsuketa. (悪い子みつけた。, I Found a Bad Kid.) feat. Yūko Andō.”
