Gameplay

Players begin by choosing one of three characters after a Yorkie named Leila is dognapped. Completing missions and tracking the city's mob boss unlocks additional dogs. Each dog can be customized with outfits and enhanced powers. Gameplay styles include first person, guitar-hero-style, third person, infinite runner, top-down, and open world. Bones, the in-game currency, are earned through gameplay, watching advertisements, completing missions, finding hidden gifts, or purchasing with legal currency. Bones are displayed at the top middle of the screen and can buy characters, accessories, refill life and turbo meters, or enhance superpowers.

Development

Behdad Sami, recovering from injuries sustained during his professional basketball career in the 2010/2011 season, pursued his dream of creating a video game. Production of Get 'Em, Legendary Rejects' first game, began in 2011 and was planned to take six months, but setbacks extended development by five years. It was released in summer 2016 for iOS and fall 2016 for Android. The game was inspired by Grand Theft Auto and Need For Speed Underground. Its name derives from the command dog owners use to tell a dog to fetch. The concept aimed to cast crime-fighting dogs as protagonists rather than sidekicks. The cel-shaded 3D cartoon art style was created by SuperGenius Studios.
