Le Classique (women), also known as Le Classico, is a French football rivalry between Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and OL Lyonnes (Lyon). These two clubs are the most successful in French women's football. The fixture began in 1994 and has since become a major event in the Première Ligue, featuring tight league matches, cup finals, and European clashes. By the late 2000s, Lyon had built overwhelming dominance in both French and European women's football. PSG only emerged as a serious challenger in the 2010s, after Qatar Sports Investments (QSI) bought the club in 2012. From the mid-2010s onward, the two teams regularly finished first and second in the Première Ligue and met repeatedly in the Coupe de France Féminine and the UEFA Women's Champions League. Although Lyon usually came out on top, PSG achieved notable firsts: their first league win over Lyon in 2014 and a landmark European success in 2015.
