The Championship Years

The only European club to win the European Cup more often than the domestic league.

Nottingham Forest Football Club is a professional football club based in West Bridgford, Nottinghamshire, England. The club competes in the top tier of English football. Founded in 1865, they have played at the City Ground since 1898. Forest have won two European Cups, one UEFA Super Cup, one League title, two FA Cups, four League Cups, and one FA Charity Shield. Lore & Background

The club was formed in 1865 by a group of shinty players at the Clinton Arms in Nottingham. Their colours, Garibaldi Red, were chosen at that first meeting. Forest's first official game was against Notts County on 22 March 1866. In 1878–79 they entered the FA Cup for the first time. Forest won the FA Cup in 1898 and again in 1959. Their most successful period came under Brian Clough and Peter Taylor in the late 1970s and early 1980s, with back-to-back European Cup wins in 1979 and 1980. Forest also won the League Cup in 1989 and 1990 under Clough. The club's all-time leading goalscorer is Grenville Morris with 213 goals.
