Cover art

The Standard Edition cover shows Jude Bellingham performing his signature “Belligol” celebration after scoring a stoppage-time winner during El Clásico in April 2024. The Ultimate Edition cover places Bellingham alongside David Beckham, Zinedine Zidane, Gianluigi Buffon, and Aitana Bonmatí in a trophy room with 17 prestigious trophies. At 21, Bellingham is the youngest global cover star in EA Sports football history and the first English player on the cover since 2011.

Licenses

Most clubs from FC 24 return, but Serie A clubs Inter Milan, SS Lazio, Atalanta, and AC Milan are named Lombardia FC, Latium, Bergamo Calcio, and Milano FC respectively, and EA lost licenses to the Belgium national team and Canada women's national team. Roma and Napoli return after absences since FIFA 20 and FIFA 22. Olympiacos returns, Qarabag debuts, and the Finland women's national team appears for the first time. Bayern Munich and FC Barcelona use generic stadiums due to exclusivity with eFootball. Estadio Más Monumental returns, and several stadiums debut including Estádio José Alvalade, Rams Park, Ülker Stadium, De Kuip, Stade Bollaert-Delelis, Coventry Building Society Arena, Ewood Park, Ashton Gate, and Portman Road.

Gameplay

EA Sports FC 25 swaps VOLTA Football for Rush, a new 5v5 mode on a compact pitch that works in Ultimate Team, Clubs, Manager Career, and Kick-Off. Ultimate Team gets a launch set of Heroes cards with comic-book art and league-based chemistry, all fresh except for Yaya Touré. Eight new Icons also arrive, each tied to their nation for chemistry: Gianluigi Buffon, Gareth Bale, Lotta Schelin, Julie Foudy, Lilian Thuram, Nadine Angerer, Aya Miyama, and Marinette Pichon. Career Mode puts you in charge of a club across seasons, covering transfers, training, tactics, finances, and fan growth, with player development and shifting rivalries.

Reception

EA Sports FC 25 received 'generally favorable' reviews for the PlayStation 5 version and 'mixed or average' for the Xbox Series X/S version on Metacritic, with 63% of critics recommending it on OpenCritic. It won 'Best Sports / Racing Game' at The Game Awards 2024 and was nominated for 'Sports Game of the Year' at the 28th Annual D.I.C.E. Awards. Despite this, Electronic Arts reported in January 2025 that the game underperformed financially, though it became Europe's best-selling PC and console game in 2025 according to GSD.
