Gameplay
Players use a space telescope to search the cosmos for Earth, scanning nearby stars to progress and unlock areas of the spaceship. Each mission provides hints for locating a potential Earth; moving the telescope scans for stars, and locating the target yields an analysis report including radius, mass, temperature, water coverage, and Earth similarity. Players may name discovered planets. Completing a mission advances the story and unlocks new missions and explorable areas. Interacting with items or facilities displays dialogue and may reveal clues for special missions targeting stars, asteroids, or supernovae.
Plot
Tens of millions of years in the future, humans have left Earth, which has become a mythical planet and the basis of a religion called Earthology. Genetic engineering has deteriorated the human gene pool, and the only remedy is to retrieve the oldest gene sample from the forgotten home planet. Project Earth launches the spaceship OPUS to search for Earth. The story follows Emeth, a childlike robot built by doctor Lisa, a crew member, to support the mission. Emeth is forced to shut down for unknown reasons, and after rebooting from extended hibernation, he finds himself alone on the ship until the artificial intelligence hologram of doctor Lisa is activated. Emeth continues the mission with hologram Lisa to keep his promise of finding Earth. It is implied that Lisa and Mikoto left the ship due to illness, with Lisa uploading a copy of her consciousness into a hologram. The star LISA begins expanding, threatening to melt the ship. In a final observation, Earth is found behind LISA, and they escape to Earth in OPUS.
