The only NES game based on the NWA.
WCW Wrestling (also known as WCW World Championship Wrestling) is a professional wrestling video game developed by Nichibutsu for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Originally released in Japan as Super Star Pro Wrestling in 1989, it was later brought to North America in 1990 under a World Championship Wrestling license. It is the first and only video game based on the National Wrestling Alliance, as WCW was then a member.

Did You Know?
- WCW Wrestling was the working title for a canceled game for the game.com handheld system.
- It was also the working title for a sequel to EA's WCW Mayhem intended for PlayStation 2, later renamed WCW Mayhem 2 and canceled when WCW was sold to the WWF.
Gameplay
The game offers Single and Tag modes for both one and two players. In One Player Single mode, the player selects one wrestler and faces the other 11 opponents in a fixed order under a five-minute time limit; after defeating all 11, the player must beat them again before challenging WCW Master. A password system saves progress after every three wins and after winning the first belt. One Player Tag mode lets the player choose two wrestlers to compete against random CPU tag teams in a tournament; each team faces each other twice under a ten-minute limit, and the winner is determined by total points awarded based on match outcomes (pinfall or submission, countout, time up/draw). Two Player Single mode has two players each choose one wrestler for a best-two-out-of-three match with a 15-minute limit. Two Player Tag mode allows each player to pick two wrestlers for a best-of-three match under a 30-minute limit. Before a match, players select four of eight available charge moves, each assigned to a direction on the D-pad and executed with the B button. Wrestlers can also throw opponents outside the ring, where they can Irish whip them into the barricade or hit them with a wrench if a crowd member tosses one onto the floor. The final opponent is WCW Master, secretly André The Giant wearing a mask; he can be selected via a password, but doing so causes glitchy sprites.
Lineup
The Japanese roster of Super Star Pro Wrestling featured wrestlers from All Japan Pro Wrestling and New Japan Pro Wrestling, including Antonio Inoki, Giant Baba, Jumbo Tsuruta, Gen'ichirō Tenryū, Riki Chōshū, Akira Maéda, Bruiser Brody, Stan Hansen, Big Van Vader, Abdullah the Butcher, Road Warrior Hawk & Animal, and André The Giant. Road Warrior Animal remained unchanged. WCW Master is André The Giant with a mask and darker blue tights, reminiscent of his Giant Machine gimmick. The game contains inaccuracies in some wrestlers' birthdates, and Big Van Vader's hometown and date of birth are omitted to protect his gimmick.
