Eve is a primary antagonist in Nier: Automata, introduced as a twin controller of the Machine Network alongside Adam. He is a physical manifestation of the Machine Network, and his actions drive key story events. After Adam is killed by 2B, Eve goes mad with grief and drives connected Machines into a frenzy. He is ultimately killed by 2B and 9S, but his death infects 9S with the logic virus, forcing 2B to kill him.

Lore & Background

Eve is one of the twin controllers of the Machine Network, the primary antagonists of Nier: Automata. He and Adam are physical manifestations of the Machine Network, created by the Machines after they destroyed their alien creators centuries ago. Eve is characterized by his close bond with Adam. After Adam is killed by 2B, Eve goes mad with grief. This madness drives him to frenzy the connected Machines, leading to a chaotic and destructive rampage. 2B and 9S ultimately kill Eve, but during the battle, 9S becomes infected with Eve's logic virus. This infection forces 2B to kill 9S, though 9S's consciousness survives within the local Machine Network. The Red Girls are another construct within the Machine Network.
