Patrick Timothy Kane II (born November 19, 1988) is an American right winger and alternate captain for the Chicago Blackhawks. Known as "Showtime," he was the first overall pick in the 2007 NHL entry draft. After debuting with Chicago, he played there until a February 2023 trade to the New York Rangers, and later suited up for the Detroit Red Wings. Kane also represented the United States at the 2010 and 2014 Winter Olympics. One of the most decorated players of his generation, Kane won the Calder Memorial Trophy as rookie of the year in 2008 and was central to the Blackhawks’ three Stanley Cup victories in 2010, 2013, and 2015. In 2013, he earned the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP. During the 2015–16 season, he became the first American-born player to win both the Hart Memorial Trophy (league MVP) and the Art Ross Trophy (scoring champion). Kane led all NHL players in scoring throughout the 2010s and was named to the 100 Greatest NHL Players list. He is widely regarded as one of the best American players ever.
