United States (TV series)
NBC promoted it as doing for marriages what M*A*S*H did for war.
United States is an American comedy-drama series that aired on NBC in 1980. Created by Larry Gelbart, the show focused on the marriage of Richard and Libby Chapin, an upwardly mobile couple in Woodland Hills, California. Gelbart intended the series to reflect real marital issues, using black-and-white titles and omitting background music and a laugh track. The series was pulled after nine of thirteen episodes, but later aired in Britain as Married and on A&E in 1986.
