The ballparks
The 1871 Rockford Forest Citys used the Agricultural Society Fair Grounds, a tree-ringed field with no outfield fences at Kilburn Avenue and Mulberry Street. By 1879, the team played at Fairgrounds Park. In 1901, they were at Riverside Park, north of the city. The club moved in 1913 to Kishwaukee Park, also called Rockford Base Ball Park, at 15th Avenue and Seminary Street, later Beyer Stadium. From 1947 to 1949, the Rockford Rox played at Rox Park, also known as 15th Avenue Park, just east of Beyer Stadium. Although some sources place them in Blackhawk Park, local newspapers disagree.
