Rohit Gurunath Sharma (born 30 April 1987) is an Indian international cricketer and a former captain of the India national cricket team in T20Is and ODIs. He formerly played for and captained Mumbai Indians in the IPL, leading the franchise to multiple titles. He plays primarily as an opening batsman and is known for his elegant strokeplay and record-breaking limited-overs centuries.

Rohit Sharma made his IPL debut in 2008 for Deccan Chargers, but his career-defining moment came in 2013 when he was appointed captain of Mumbai Indians early in the season after Ricky Ponting stepped down following just six matches. Under his leadership, Mumbai Indians won their first IPL title in 2013, defeating Chennai Super Kings at Eden Gardens. He went on to lead the franchise to four more IPL titles, becoming the most successful captain in IPL history.
