Plot
Joe has always been crazy about auto racing. His father, Paul, runs a motorbike business that regularly sends teams to compete in Macau and Japan, where his riders often take home the crown bike. But on the streets, a different story unfolds: every one of those crown bikes ends up beaten by Joe. Rumors say he’s the best of the bunch. The trouble is, Joe lost his license at 19 for speeding, so he can’t race legally. He sneaks onto the streets to satisfy his need for speed. Paul is furious about this, seeing his son as nothing but an outlaw biker, and he orders his racers not to compete with Joe. That drives a wedge between father and son. Joe runs an auto repair shop with his buddy Jimmy. His girlfriend Annie is sweet and caring, but she’s always worried sick when he races. Then David shows up, a young racer fresh from England, and he and Joe hit it off. Seven years later, Joe gets his license back and wants to prove himself in a Macau race, but he can’t get a racing license. He suspects his father is behind it. Retired racer Lo Kwai tells Joe to make peace with Paul to improve his chances. But when they meet, they just argue, and Paul gives the final racer spot to David instead. Paul’s riders have always resented Joe, but they still race with him. During one of those races, Joe crashes, ends up in a coma for ten days. Annie nurses him back, but he wakes up too late to race in Macau. He can only watch helplessly as David takes the championship. After the crash, Joe is terrified of racing again and worries he’ll never get back on a bike. Annie is relieved and begs him to quit and focus on the repair shop. But other bikers are waiting for Joe to take on David, the new Macau champ, on the streets. Joe doesn’t act. Rumors spread that he’s scared and washed up. Jimmy can’t stand it, so he challenges David himself. Jimmy crashes and dies from his injuries.
