Switch Axe

The Switch Axe is a hunter weapon type in the Monster Hunter series that changes between an axe mode and a sword mode. Sword mode is faster than a Great Sword but hits less hard, draws on the weapon's phial, and is limited by an energy gauge that drains as you swing; a finishing burst ends with an explosion that drops the weapon back into axe mode. The weapon was later added to Monster Hunter Frontier as well.
