G.I. Joe: Valor vs. Venom

G.I. Joe: Valor vs. Venom is a 2004 American animated military science fiction action film. It follows G.I. Joe: Spy Troops (2003) and was produced by Reel FX Creative Studios, with distribution by Paramount Home Entertainment. Like the previous film, its story was built around the toy line released that year, which debuted a new enemy faction: Cobra’s V-Troops. Most voice actors returned for their roles, joined by new performers including Kevan Ohtsji as Kamakura and Slice, Brian Drummond as Slash and The President, Andy Toth as Dusty (replacing Alessandro Juliani), Venus Terzo as Jinx, Frank Salazar as Venomous Maximus, Trevor Devall as Wild Weasel, and Lee Tockar as Beach Head (replacing Matt Hill).

In the plot, set after Spy Troops, Cobra deploys drones to a zoo to collect DNA from top predators. G.I. Joe is called in by the zoo’s veterinarian, who finds a tranquilizer dart left behind. Snake Eyes gives his students Kamakura and Jinx swords after they complete their training, though Kamakura’s blade will not unsheathe unless he has the proper mindset. Meanwhile, General Hawk is captured by Destro and the Baroness. At Cobra’s arctic base, Doctor Mindbender reveals Cobra Commander’s plan: to mutate humans into brainwashed animal-like troopers, or “Venomize” them. They need a good general, so Hawk is taken for the full Venomization process. The Joes track down the base just as Cobra Commander blasts Hawk with a DNA mixture, but the process fails because it is incomplete. Overkill, the cyborg commander of the B.A.T.s, uses a device to scramble Hawk’s DNA with the animal samples, transforming him into Venomous Maximus and suppressing his memory. The Joes retreat after failing to restore Hawk. However, Maximus resists Cobra Commander’s mind-control scepter—a side effect Mindbender warned could occur if too much alpha animal DNA was used. Cobra moves to a missile launch facility stolen from the Joes by Slash and Slice’s army of B.A.T.s and Venoms. Maximus allies with Overkill, promising him equality and respect if he takes over Cobra. The Joes attack, armed with an antidote for the Venoms, forcing Maximus to mutiny early. Mindbender, wanting to prevent animalistic rule, helps the Joes trap Maximus in a magnetic field to apply the antidote. It fails until Cobra Commander fires a missile at Maximus and Duke.
