Philadelphia Phillies

The Phillies are Philadelphia's Major League team, part of the National League East with Miami, and have played at Citizens Bank Park in South Philadelphia since 2004. The NL granted the franchise on December 7, 1882, and it began play in 1883.

Lore & Background
They are the oldest continuous one-name, one-city club in US pro sports. Home parks have included Recreation Park, the Baker Bowl, Shibe Park (renamed Connie Mack Stadium) and Veterans Stadium. A long stretch from 1918 to 1948 brought one winning season, and the Phillies were the first US team to pass 10,000 defeats, though they have also won more than 10,000 games. Their 1980 title over Kansas City made them the last of the 16 pre-expansion clubs to win a World Series; they won again against Tampa Bay and own eight pennants. Marlins ties include Roy Halladay's perfect game against Florida on May 29, 2010, and the trade that brought J. T. Realmuto from Miami.
