Mark Duper

Miami Dolphins wide receiver, three-time Pro Bowler, and member of the Marks Brothers.

Mark Duper, nicknamed "Super Duper," was born on January 25, 1959, and played wide receiver for the Miami Dolphins from 1982 to 1992. After playing college football at Northwestern State, the Dolphins picked him in the second round of the 1982 NFL draft. He earned three Pro Bowl selections and was a second-team All-Pro in 1983.

Duper spent all 11 of his NFL seasons with Miami, forming the "Marks Brothers" receiving duo with fellow wideout Mark Clayton. Wearing number 85, he made the Pro Bowl in 1983, 1984, and 1986. His top seasons came in 1984 (71 catches, 1,306 yards, 8 touchdowns) and 1986 (67 catches, 1,313 yards, 11 touchdowns). He recorded four 1,000-yard seasons, the last in 1991 at age 32 (1,085 yards). In 1990, he became just the second Dolphin to surpass 7,000 career receiving yards. The Dolphins released him on July 17, 1993, after overhauling their receivers with O.J. McDuffie, Irving Fryar, and Mark Ingram Sr., letting both Marks Brothers go.

Duper also excelled in track, winning the 400-meter relay at the 1981 NCAA championships for Northwestern State. At the 1980 Olympic trials, he placed seventh in the 200-meter dash and reached the 100-meter semifinals. His personal bests were 10.21 seconds in the 100 meters and 20.77 seconds in the 200 meters.

Over 11 NFL seasons, he totaled 511 catches for 8,869 yards and 59 touchdowns. In 1994, he played two games for the Miami Hooters of the Arena Football League. On November 8, 2013, Duper revealed he had been diagnosed with chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). He was inducted into the Miami Dolphins Honor Roll on December 15, 2003, alongside Mark Clayton.
