Ochoa debuted with América in the Clausura 2004 tournament against Monterrey at age 18 under head coach Leo Beenhakker, replacing injured veteran Adolfo Ríos. After a brief period under Oscar Ruggeri, he was reinstated by Mario Carrillo and started every game for América barring injuries or national team duty.
