The Economic Times is a daily business newspaper published in English across India. Owned by The Times Group, it first came out in 1961 and is available in every major Indian city. As of 2012, it ranked as the second most widely read English business newspaper globally, behind The Wall Street Journal, with more than 800,000 daily readers. In the second half of 2022, the Audit Bureau of Circulations reported its average circulation at 269,882 copies.
The paper is printed simultaneously in 19 cities: Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Nagpur, Chandigarh, Pune, Patna, Ranchi, Indore, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Kochi, and Goa. Its coverage centers on the Indian economy, global finance, stock prices, commodity rates, and other financial topics. P. S. Hariharan served as the founding editor when the paper launched in 1961.
