Career

Brocklehurst played in the BCHL before enrolling at St. Cloud State University in 2004. He turned professional in 2008, signing with the Florida Everblades of the ECHL, then moving to the Victoria Salmon Kings, also of the ECHL. During the 2008-09 season he also had a brief stint with the AHL's Lake Erie Monsters. The following campaign he suited up for the Gwinnett Gladiators and the Reading Royals in the ECHL. In 2010-11 he left for Europe, joining Lukko of the Finnish SM-liiga. After a mid-season transfer to Pelicans, he signed a one-year extension. On June 8, 2012, he left Finland for Germany, signing a one-year contract with EHC Wolfsburg of the DEL. While leading the Wolfsburg defence with 30 points in 48 games during 2012-13, he was re-signed to a one-year extension on February 13, 2013. After two seasons with Wolfsburg, he transferred to fellow DEL club ERC Ingolstadt on May 12, 2014. Following one season with Ingolstadt, he left the DEL for the EBEL, signing a one-year contract with Hungarian club Alba Volán Székesfehérvár on July 9, 2015. He parted company with that club during the season and returned to Germany, agreeing to a deal with the Hamburg Freezers in February 2016 for the remainder of 2015-16. He returned to the EBEL for 2016-17, signing with the Vienna Capitals on July 6, 2016. He stayed with the Capitals for two seasons before agreeing to terms with EHC Black Wings Linz on April 16, 2018. In 2018-19 with the Black Wings, he posted 6 goals and 28 points in 52 games. He opted not to take up his contract option and left as a free agent after a quarterfinal playoff defeat. On July 12, 2019, he agreed to a one-year contract with the Sheffield Steelers of the English EIHL.
