History

Broomhill Sports Club started in June 2004 in the Broomhill area of Glasgow, set up as a multi-sport club for local children. By 2014, it was serving 700 kids across several sports, with football as the main focus. That same year, BSC Glasgow F.C. was created as a senior side to give youth players a route into adult football. The club joined the Scottish Lowland Football League for the 2014–15 season and won the SFA South Region Challenge Cup in its first campaign.

BSC then reached the Lowland League Cup Final in 2016–17 and the South Challenge Cup final in 2017–18, before lifting the Lowland League Cup trophy in 2018–19. The team’s rise in the league came under manager Stephen Swift, who guided them to third place in 2017–18 and second place in 2018–19. On 1 July 2021, the club split from BSC Glasgow and renamed itself Broomhill Football Club, keeping its place in the Lowland League and its Scottish FA membership, while BSC Glasgow became a new amateur side in the West of Scotland Football League’s Development section.

In May 2022, Broomhill teamed up with the football media brand Open Goal for the 2022–23 season, rebranding as Open Goal Broomhill. Simon Ferry, a professional footballer and Open Goal podcast host, took over as manager. The partnership involved club content on Open Goal’s platforms, including a monthly documentary series. In March 2023, the club said the deal would end after the season, and Ferry, along with assistants Derek Lyle and Paul Slane, left their roles.

In May 2023, Broomhill returned to its original name and brought back Stephen Swift as manager. The club then announced a five-year agreement to move to Dumbarton Football Stadium, aiming to build a fanbase and settle permanently in the town. On 30 May 2025, Broomhill announced it would shut down immediately after being relegated from the Lowland League.

Ground

For its first two Lowland League seasons, Broomhill shared Lochburn Park with Maryhill. Then, before the 2016–17 campaign, they struck a deal with Alloa Athletic to ground-share at Recreation Park. From the 2022–23 season onward, a commercial partnership with Open Goal moved their home matches to Broadwood Stadium in Cumbernauld. Their final two seasons, 2023–24 and 2024–25, were played at Dumbarton Football Stadium in West Dunbartonshire.
