Cameron Dicker

Cameron Lawrence Dicker, known as "Dicker the Kicker," is an American football placekicker for the Los Angeles Chargers. Before joining the Chargers, he played for the Los Angeles Rams, Baltimore Ravens, and Philadelphia Eagles. In college, he was an All-Big 12 kicker and punter for the Texas Longhorns, where he holds the school record for most field goals made. He holds the NFL record for highest field goal percentage and is the only NFL player born in Hong Kong.

Dicker was born in Hong Kong to Kelly and Rachel Dicker, who were originally from Seattle but working in China. He has one sister, Annabelle. He lived in Shanghai until age 11, where his father worked, and grew up a fan of Liverpool F.C. In 2011, his family moved to Austin, Texas. He first played football in fifth grade through an expat youth league in Shanghai, then played left guard on his middle school team in Austin.

At Lake Travis High School, Dicker was a two-time all-state selection, starting as kicker for three seasons and punter for two. He won a Texas 6A Division I state championship in 2016 alongside Garrett Wilson and Charlie Brewer, and was runner-up in 2015. He scored 331 points, making 34 of 43 field goals and 229 of 232 extra points, and set a school record with a 53-yard field goal. He was ranked the No. 4 kicker nationally by 247Sports and No. 16 by ESPN in the 2018 class. He committed to Texas on May 4, 2017. He also played soccer for Lake Travis, helping the team reach the 2015 state championship game.

At Texas, Dicker won the starting kicker role as a freshman. He made his first game-winning field goal against No. 7 Oklahoma, a 40-yard kick that earned him the nickname "Dicker the Kicker" from Fox Sports announcer Gus Johnson and his first Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week award. He later earned the same honor after a perfect performance against Texas Tech, hitting field goals of 46 and 52 yards—the latter tied for the third-longest by a freshman in school history.

That season, he went 18-for-25 on field goals and 51-for-52 on extra points, earning second-team All-Big 12 honors, honorable mention for Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Year, and All-Rookie Academic All-Big 12 recognition. He led the Big 12 in field goals made and attempted, setting a Texas freshman record for field goals, and his 97 points were the second-most by a freshman in school history. The Longhorns reached the 2018 Big 12 Championship, upset Georgia in the 2019 Sugar Bowl, and finished ranked No. 9.

Before the 2019 season, Dicker was named to the Lou Groza Award watchlist. He kicked a career-long 57-yard field goal against Rice, the sixth-longest in Big 12 history and seventh-longest in Texas history at the time, behind only Russell Erxleben. Against Kansas, he made all six extra points and both field goals, including a 33-yard walk-off winner, earning another Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week award. The Longhorns won the 2019 Alamo Bowl and finished No. 25. He was an honorable mention All-Big 12 kicker, led the conference in extra point attempts and makes, and earned First Team Academic All-Big 12 honors. He was perfect on extra points for the season, tying the school record for extra point percentage.

In 2020, Dicker earned second-team All-Big 12 honors, again leading the conference in extra point attempts and makes. After Ryan Bujcevski tore his ACL against West Virginia, Dicker took over punting duties. The Longhorns won the 2020 Alamo Bowl and finished ranked No. 19/20. In that bowl, he set the record for the longest field goal in Alamo Bowl history (53 yards), the second-longest in a bowl game in school history. For the third straight year, he led the team in scoring and earned First Team Academic All-Big 12 honors.

In 2021, Dicker continued punting while Bujcevski recovered. He was again on the Lou Groza Award watchlist. Against Texas Tech, he made 10 extra points, tied for fifth-most in a Big 12 game and tied for first in school history for both attempts and makes. He was named Big 12 co-Special Teams Player of the Week after going 8-for-8 on extra points and punting twice for 90 yards against Kansas.

The next week, he tied for fifth-most field goals in a single game in school history with four against TCU. He then kicked a career-long 78-yard punt, the fifth-longest in school history, and averaged 51.7 yards per punt against Oklahoma State, the seventh-best single-game average in school history, including a 77-yard punt (the sixth-longest). In November, he was named a Ray Guy Award semifinalist, leading the nation in net punting average. He finished the season as a first-team All-Big 12 punter, averaging 46.8 yards per punt (the third-best season in school history behind Michael Dickson), and was an honorable mention All-Big 12 kicker.
