The forest is where Limbo begins: the nameless boy awakens in the middle of a forest on the "edge of hell" - the game's title comes from the Latin limbus, meaning "edge".
Lore & Background
Here the boy meets the giant spider, is spun into a cocoon, and runs into a colony of other boys who try to kill him with traps and poison darts. Deadly bear traps lie on the forest floor and monsters hide in the shadows. The forest eventually gives way to a crumbling city, followed by industrial and flooded environments, and the final puzzle throws the boy back into the forest where the game began.
