Plot
Dale and Nancy Gribble plan to renew their wedding vows after Nancy ends her affair with John Redcorn, hoping for a fresh start. She wants Dale to invite his estranged father Bug, who forcibly kissed Nancy at their wedding reception. Hank, Bill, and Boomhauer track Bug to a gay rodeo. Bug reveals that twenty years ago he was closeted and kissed Nancy to avoid appearing attracted to a man. His lover Juan Pedro arrives, upset that Bug never mentioned having a son. Bug returns to Arlen and asks Dale's forgiveness without disclosing his homosexuality. Dale reconciles but remains oblivious. Bug notices Joseph's lack of resemblance and asks if he is adopted; Nancy admits John Redcorn is Joseph's biological father. Bug decides to tell the truth. Dale misinterprets Bug's explanation of Juan Pedro as a "partner" at a gay rodeo, believing his father is a government agent. Dale deserts the ceremony and goes to the rodeo to expose Bug. Bug tells Dale he is gay, but Dale does not trust him. Dale announces Bug is spying; Bug ties him down, then kisses Juan Pedro in front of Dale. Dale relents and lets them attend the ceremony. At the reception, Nancy asks if Dale is okay with his father's sexuality; Dale says it is a non-issue because he believes John Redcorn is gay and has been his friend for years.
Production
Charles Nelson Reilly originally voiced Bug in a storyline where Dale refuses to go to a dentist due to fear of a tracking device. Most events remained the same, but the ending had Bug covering his sexuality by claiming to monitor the gay rodeo's activities, and Dale has Bug hold his hand at the dentist. After the script was rewritten, David Herman voiced Bug.
