Lethal Company Codexery

The Lizard

Slow, green, and patient — the Lizard doesn't need speed when it owns the whole factory floor.

The Lizard is one of the most recognizable hostile entities in Lethal Company, a large, low-slung reptilian creature that patrols the dim corridors and open bays of the factory levels. Players first encounter it in the earlier, less punishing maps, where its slow-but-steady pace makes it a manageable threat for a well-coordinated crew — and a terrifying one for a lone, panicking scavenger who breaks line of sight and sprints the wrong way.

Its role in the game's ecosystem is that of a mid-tier predator: not as fast or aggressive as the Stalker, not as deceptively quiet as the Mimic, but a constant, grinding presence that forces players to manage noise, sight-lines, and positioning from the very first run. It is the creature most new players learn to respect before they ever face the harder horrors.

Lore & Background

In the fragmented lore of Lethal Company, the factory is not merely a setting but a living, hostile organism. The Lizard fits that theme perfectly: it does not feel like an animal that wandered in. It feels grown into the environment, its scaly hide the same industrial green as the pipe insulation, its long tail trailing along the grating as though it were part of the infrastructure. Workers who went missing in the early shifts never reported seeing it; they reported hearing a low, rattling vibration in the walls, then nothing.

The creature's behavior is methodical. It does not chase with the desperate, shrieking urgency of the Hound. Instead it tracks, pauses, reorients, and then commits to a lunge that covers a surprising distance. Fans have noted that in tight corridors it is almost impossible to outrun, while in open bays its speed disadvantage becomes exploitable. This duality — a slow predator that becomes lethal in confined spaces — makes it a design anchor for the early levels, teaching players the core loop of noise management before the game escalates.

Over the course of a run, the Lizard often serves as the 'background dread.' It is rarely the thing that kills you outright; it is the thing you keep hearing, the shadow you glimpse under a catwalk, the reason you stop sprinting and hold your breath while the rest of the crew finishes the scrap pile three meters away. It is the factory's immune system, and it does not distinguish between intruders and the building itself.

Reader's Guide

The Lizard is a large, low-slung green reptile with a long trailing tail, a broad ridged back, and a heavy jaw — think a cross between a monitor lizard and a factory pipe, all scales and industrial grime.

It moves on all fours, hugging the floor, and is noticeably slower than the Stalker or the Hound. In open bays you can usually outpace it by sprinting in a wide arc. In corridors, however, its lunge covers more ground than you'd expect, and if it breaks line of sight and re-acquires you, it commits to a full charge that is very hard to dodge head-on. It lunges when it locks onto you, so breaking its line of sight behind a pillar, catwalk, or forklift is your primary survival tool.

It is strongly sound-sensitive: running, dropping scrap, or firing a flare will pull it across the map. Throwing a flare or a piece of scrap in the opposite direction can redirect it, buying your crew ten to fifteen seconds. It has no ranged attack and no area effect, so a well-timed dash behind cover is almost always enough to reset its aggro. It is not immune to being knocked or stunned by environmental hazards, though it is bulky and takes a lot of punishment to go down.

Field note: It's not the fastest thing in the factory, but it's the one that's always there. Respect the tap of that tail.
