Life and work
Selva Alemán became a renowned actress and died on 3 September 2024.[3] When he was six, Alemán became a member of the Moreira Sextet, a family group, where he initially performed on the cavaquinho and later switched to the guitar.[4] A regular engagement at the Alvear Palace Hotel was secured by him, and his recording of "Rosa Madreselva" became a success.[2] Alemán had a romantic relationship with actress Carmen Vallejo; their daughter, Selva Alemán, was born on 30 April 1944.[5][3]

Alemán stayed well-liked until the late 1950s, when rock n roll and newer tango trends gained prominence.[5] His typical technique involved using a thumb pick and his fingers while performing on a D-hole Selmer Maccaferri guitar.[4]
